DINplus has represented the highest level of expertise in wood pellet certification for well over 20 years and is the oldest certification in this field. As part of TÜV Rheinland, our certification body DIN CERTCO is the leading accredited certification body for wood pellets in Europe and the only organization authorized to issue the DIN mark for wood pellets. Our certification is based on the DIN EN 17225-2 standard, ensuring clear limits for performance and pollutant minimization.

With around 500 valid certificates from more than 25 countries and continuous growth, we are a reliable and experienced partner for the industry. Wood pellets play a significant role in reducing CO2 emissions. They have developed into a viable alternative to heating oil and natural gas. These positive attributes have driven the continuous growth in the use of both wood pellets and pellet boilers.

To stand out in the competition and prove the consistently high quality of your wood pellets, we offer the “DINplus Wood Pellets Class A1” certification in accordance with international standards. With the DINplus quality mark, you build trust with your customers, meet the increasing demand for certified wood pellets, and thereby improve your market position.

During our annual inspection, we monitor every step up to the loading of the pellets: from the natural purity of the wood and internal quality assurance measures to fine fraction screening and temperature monitoring during loading. This ensures the highest product quality up to the point of transfer.

For traders without physical contact with pellets, we offer a flexible solution: the inspection is conducted as an annual document review through a digital remote audit.

Through inspection, testing, and certification of wood pellets, we verify the high quality characteristics in wood pellet production by monitoring internal quality assurance measures. Product testing is conducted in qualified and recognized testing laboratories. For producers, the following properties are examined, among others:

• Moisture content
• Bulk density
• Fine particle content
• Net calorific value
• Mechanical durability
• Ash content
• Pellet length
• Chemical contaminants

After receiving your application, we plan an inspection during which a sample is also taken for laboratory testing. For traders without physical contact with the pellets, a remote audit without sampling is scheduled instead. You will then receive the DINplus mark along with a registration number, which must be included on your bag designs or delivery notes (for bulk pellets). These designs must be approved by us before they can be printed.

The registration number ensures transparency, as end customers can find it in our database and verify the validity of your certification.

After successful testing and a positive evaluation, the certificate is issued. It is valid for five years, provided that annual surveillances are successfully completed, and can be extended for another five years each time.
