As part of its "Saudi Arabia Vision 2030," SASO has two strategic goals to boost the country’s (foreign) trade: to build consumer confidence in the products available on the market, and to guarantee fair trade between buyers and sellers.

Accordingly, the SALEEM product safety program has been launched. This sets out “technical regulations” for numerous product groups. The regulations have binding clauses on technical requirements, the standards to be applied, and conformity assessment procedures.

Products regulated under SALEEM require a 1-year-long valid Product Certificate of Conformity, and a Shipment Certificate of Conformity per shipment. The certifications confirm that your goods comply with regulations specific to the country. The certificates are registered via the SABER portal.

• Products and/or factories (if required) undergo inspection
• A Certificate of Conformity (CoC) for the product is issued

SASO's SALEEM program can require other certificates in addition to product and shipment certifications. Accordingly, products that could pose a risk to consumers and the environment due to their nature, application, safety and performance aspects must be marked with the Saudi Quality Mark (SQM). The certification process for such products includes recurrent visits to production sites, taking test samples, and evaluating production processes and management systems.

Shipments of food and cosmetic products require certification through a separate process regulated by the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA). As an approved certification authority in Germany, we can also carry out the necessary tests for this program and issue you with the relevant certificates, e.g., for exporting cosmetic products to Saudi Arabia.
